Brierley wins local derby clash in his second professional bout
The 19-year-old from Harworth took on Worksop’s Simeon Cover, and impressed the judges sufficiently to take the decision.
Brierley, formerly of Langold ABC and Manton ABC, was entering the ring for the second time as a professional, and admitted to some nerves ahead of the bout.

Hide AdHe told the Guardian: “I was nervous but ready for it, it was a good kind of nerves.”
“I had quite a long training camp for the fight, about 11 or 12 weeks and it had all gone well in preparation.”
The 6ft 4ins boxer was hoping to add a second stoppage victory to his record, but had to settle for a points win.
