Mr Collington said: “The Culture Recovery fund will be invaluable to Savoy Cinemas during the extended pandemic and we are extremely grateful for the support.
“At a time when our sector is enormously vulnerable, the fund will give us financial security enabling our cinemas to be COVID secure and prepare for reopening in 2021, once market conditions allow.
“Our staff will continue to be employed and we will now focus on remaining the primary leisure and cultural offer for the towns in which we operate, ensuring that we can continue our unique and diverse programming - including mainstream and event cinema along with subtitled, autism, educational and senior screenings.
“We look forward to a challenging but exciting 2021 and can’t wait to welcome our communities back to the cinema.”
