No summer fair? No problem! Boston school smashes fundraising target with half term lockdown effort
For the recent half term, The John Fielding Special School invited staff, pupils, and parents to set themselves a daily outdoor physical challenge in aid of its future site.
The idea was to compensate for the fact this year’s summer fair – a significant fundraiser for the school – would not be held due to the coronavirus outbreak.

These efforts were supported by local organisation Makeup by Leanne, which raised £210 through an online raffle.
At the time of writing, £925 had been raised in all – almost double the target.
Headteacher Richard Gamman (who ran five miles before breakfast every morning, on one day with a 2am start) thanked all those who took part in the event, particularly teaching staff Lucy Allen and Demi Weir who came up with the idea for the fundraiser and organised it.
